Intent-Based Crypto Transactions Gain Traction for Easier On-Chain Swaps

Intent-based crypto transactions are transforming how users interact with blockchain networks by allowing them to specify desired outcomes rather than detailing every technical step. Instead of manually constructing each part of a transaction, users can express a preferred result and delegate execution to specialized agents called solvers. This development aims to improve the user experience of on-chain swaps and reduce technical complexity for the end-user.

Intent-based transactions allow users to specify desired outcomes rather than technical steps.

Specialized agents, called solvers, handle the technical execution.

The ERC-7683 specification describes a six-stage process for these transactions.

While user-friendliness increases, new trust and privacy considerations must be noted.

Story

The rise of intent-based crypto transactions is revolutionizing how users interact with blockchain networks. Instead of manually defining every technical step of a transaction, users can specify their desired outcome and delegate execution to a network of specialized agents called solvers. The Ethereum Foundation characterized an "intent" in August 2025 as a high-level statement of a user's desired on-chain result, leaving the implementation details to the execution system. This approach allows applications and networks to handle technical complexity on behalf of users. A typical example involves trading tokens with certain assets and amounts without specifying individual blockchain operations. The ERC-7683 specification, available as of November 2026, describes a six-stage process where a user expresses an intent, the application forms an order, solvers evaluate the opportunity, execution occurs, and the solver is rewarded. CoW Protocol, which lists 29 active solvers, is an example of this principle's application. While these systems enhance user-friendliness, the Ethereum Foundation cautioned that solver intermediaries introduce new trust and privacy considerations, including the risk of censorship and reliance on complex smart contracts.

Issue context

The crypto market is experiencing a downturn, with the total market capitalization decreasing by 3.17% over the last 24 hours to $2.6 trillion. Bitcoin and Ethereum are also seeing declines, while the Fear & Greed Index registers "Fear" at 26. Despite these price drops, funding rates for BTC, ETH, and SOL perpetual markets remain positive, suggesting that long positions are still paying shorts. This issue examines recent security incidents, macroeconomic influences, and regulatory developments shaping the market during this period of uncertainty.

Current market conditions show increased volatility and uncertainty. While Binance's fund flows are stabilizing, recent hacks serve as a reminder of ongoing security risks within the ecosystem. Pay attention to macroeconomic developments and regulatory changes, as these can continue to heavily influence market sentiment and liquidity. Your risk appetite should account for these factors.
